You dont even talk about my village even in your dreams.. Our village is much happier than before 5 years.. Its all becuase of YSR did for our village.
H1b cap is 65k+ 20K for US master degree and remaining are exemptions. Total approimately 125K were issued on 2007.
"H1B numbers were 125K in 2007"
Holly cow ! I always thought H1B cap is set to 65K (except for a few years in early 2000) :-)
The 125K which you mentioned is popularly used by anti-immigrant lobbys to push their argument. It includes all H1B transfers NOT only the fresh H1.
So, if X get his H1 in 2006 and change to a new company in 2007 , you will count X against 2006 as well as 2007 giving a false number. However, if X applies for a GC, it is not 2X applying for GC --- just X .
Recapture bill will help a lot in clearing the backlog. For future EB GC, if the dependents are not counted for immigrant visa, it will be much cleaner. Not all L1 and H1 apply for GC. Mostly the major Indian IT companies DO NOT sponsor GC (and as you know they are the major users of L1).
I agree, I read all the posts and went through some figures myself, the indication is that dates for EB2 will move much faster that we had all anticipated in the past. I do somewhere agree with my friend vldrao that dates could retrogress for a small period of time (say 1 month), but eventually dates will become current soon.
Marphad, I have posted less than 20 posts in this forum and I have never posted anything anti-immigrant. The most number of posts I have ever posted was in this thread.
And that was because I saw some people posting misleading information about the Sri Lankan war and I wanted everyone to see at least what I consider to be the real situation. I can't help it if people have trouble listening to different opinions and different sides of the story but this is a public forum and I have the freedom to post what I feel as long as I don't cross the line.
In any case, I am too happy today to be wasting my time on petty stuff like these.
Hasta la vista Baby!!!! :D
Marphad, i didn't say that it's wrong or right, you implied he is anti immigrant, spreading rumors and writing un-necessary posts, i just failed to see how you concluded all that just by looking at his profile ? And point taken after you replied.
And isn't the content in his profile all default content (correct me if i'm wrong) when the tracker was introduced, even i had a changeability as US. And i'm not trying to defend him, but you seem to assume it's fake. And the way i see it, it is incomplete.
If one has a fake profile do you really think he will make it so obvious ? it would resemble more accurate data than the most obvious.
And i do know the profile carries on to a on-related immi thread, no doubts there, except it only makes sense looking and analyzing it when related to an immi issue, unless you are looking for something else.
You guys keep saying diversity is a FB immigration problem only not EB, hence no cap needed in EB.
REALLY? Is it a coincidence that a desi company owner will usually have 99% of his emploees Indian? Thinking that employment depends only on skills is not realistic. A lot of the networking based on national origin interferes with how at least H1 jobs are landed here. So there is a reason to have rules preventing a monopoly.
Cheers.
Yes skills don't need a cap. If I am a business owner, I have all rights to hire best and brightest in the world. It is my choice whom I hire not Government tells me where to go for hiring. Business may hire from India or Antartica, it should not be anyone's damn concern. Let the free markets work !!! This is insane
Please post all rumors in this thread. Maybe this rumor thread becomes a sticky so that people wont start new rumor threads
the cycle for visa exhaustion has to happen before USCIS triggers action....its just not how many applications showed up on their door...and one(including me) should not feel toooo bad if we are not able to submit application becasue the visa numbers were exhausted. More painful will be if it is only based on applications received and mine went in a little later than others. lot of hard works has gone into prepraing this application. I would hire my attorney to put a suit against himself...
As i understand it...number of applications received by USCIS on july 2nd does not in any way affect the acceptance of application on july 22nd......do you see it as i see it
Its all theory ...Do you have any explanation why they rejected for the " Other workers" in june period USCIS TRYING ITS BEST, with the available resources, TO KEEP THE EMPLOYMENT BASED CATEGORY IN SHAPE.
BUT THE REASON FOR ALL THIS MESS IS ITS WORKING WITH DECADES OLD IMMIGRATION RULES and WITH a HUGE DEMAND OF EB VISAS FROM A VERY FEW COUNTRIES.
THE MESS IS WITH THE IMMIGRATION RULES, WHICH ARE WRITTEN DECADES BACK (MAY BE AT THAT TIME THE LAW MAKERS MIGHT NOT HAVE ASSUMED THE EB DEMAND WOULD BE FROM A FEW COUNTRIES LIKE INDIA and CHINA), BUT NOT WITH THE USCIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
TIME is REACHED FOR IMMIGRATION REFORM.
vdlrao,
I totally agree with this. They have been trying hard to do the right thing WITHIN THE LIMITS OF CURRENT LAWS and be fair as much as possible.
Do you agree with my statement there are 40k numbers available for EB which should be used up before Sep 30th? 20,000 each in August and September. And I bet that's what they are planning to do. I realize this could be wishful thinking . But everything points to that direction. Correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks. In 2000 December, I was travelling to Sydney from Mumbai Airport. I was held and later interviewed separately by a Tamil Speaking officer. Just because my name resembled like Srilankan Tamil. They wanted to ensure that I am not LTTE/or refugee travelling to Australia. Well, I was not offended. I just thought if these idiots have been careful before then would have avoided assasination of Rajiv Gandhi.
Sure. If its done in a respectable manner its fine with some humor and jokes added and officer can do his part to diffuse the frustration. But CBP officers in US are rude and its well known fact.
Indian customs officers are also no angels, Usually there is no profiling in India. I never ever faced a single question or treatment that was different than others. Nor did I see anyone being singled out.
When you frisk abdul kalam when you know he is ex president. When you frisk george fernandes when he has diplomatic passport , when you detain SRK when others are vouching for it, when you handcuff Gates. Its profiling. Once in a while incident that is done in respectable humorous way can be forgotten, not the rude ones. I am sure officer was damn rude to piss off srk expecting retrogresson ....in first wk of July... " ??
I thought logiclife already clarified that can not and will not happen!!
Thats why this thread is called " Rumour is that"
Now I think new people are running IV.
Aman Kapoor (Walden Pond) is not controlling now. That is the reason these idiots have got the admin previlages. Now they do nothing worthwhile. Bunch of jockers.
If this was about you being having admin previledges, you wud have been taken to trial for misusing this board.....AH...
totally agree with you.. But just feel bad that we follow all rules and somebody comes and just try to screw us..
You are right.. there are tons of things important in life then this GC.
Its not about $500.
USCIS and the US government can ask for more money. And we will happily give it to them.
Its about the stability that filing for AOS offers.
But keep in mind, you weren't able to file for AOS in June.
So maybe, we won't be able to file for AOS in July either. But thats about it. Life will go on.
So it would be best for us to stop torturing our brains.
There is not much we can do about anything. USCIS can choose to reject ALL applications received in July. AILA will issue a freaking statement. We will shed a few tears and call USCIS names.
i am not convinced u lost 20k in it? my roommate was a quikster guy, he never forced anyone., he would receive all this Junk stuff to sell, after 1 year he said enough and stopped, i dont think its madatory to buy stuff, its all about the new member add and comissions with it that prompts them to catch new desis.
For good sake desis, dont get your wifes and Kids involved in it, i ,met a desi in Target and asked him, dont u feel annoyed getting turned down with rude behaviours, ( he was with wife trying to get me to buy)
he said NO? WHY? after all its all about Money? hear it
People can loose a lot of money in this "business"... 20K in 4 years is petty... literally.
Once you achieve some level in this business, your "uplines" start pestering you to do 300PV every month instead of 100PV. Each PV is about $2.50 + tax + Shipping so 300PV = $800 a month. Most of this $800 stuff is at least with 300% markup and many of the things that we didn't need. So even if we take $200 as waste out of $800, in 4 years, I lost $200x12x4 = $9,600
Now, off course no one puts a gun to your head to buy 300PV but the pressure is nothing less than that. Its very hard to explain just like hard to explain the Niagara Falls experience (this example I have used many times while contacting people).
Now comes the suckiest part - Tapes, Books, Meetings, Conferences.
Each year there are 4 "conferences" over 4 different weekends. Each ticket costs about $125 and the hotel costs another $150. For a couple it comes to $6,400 for 4 years
Every week there is a "Open" meeting which costs $4 per person so for a couple it amounts to $1,664 for 4 years
You "have" to buy (again the pressure) 5 CDs ($8.50 each) and 2 books (~$20 each) every month. This amounts to another $4,000.
Now since it is a pyramid kind of structure, you will not have your entire team in one location or region. We had driven to "help" our group from MN to NY and PA, and MI at least 6-8 times and within northwest at least 20-25 times. This at least amounts to another $4,000
finally, you are "encouraged" to provide samples to new contacts, new team members so that they get hooked up to "Amway" products. Another $2,000.
So I am sure we lost much more than 20K just in hard cash without even counting the opportunity cost of all that time wasted. To be fair though, we are still receiving monthly bonus checks 3 years later which range from $100 to $300 depending on how much stuff is bought by the people who were in our group and who are still buying Amway products.
I don't know why I am explaining all this to you but I know many people who have never been in Amway think that you can not lose money in Amway. In fact it is totally opposite, you can lose your shirt in this "business"..
One of my friends informed me about immigrationvoice.com few months back, I am EB3 with PD Jan 2003 and currently waiting to file I-485 for last one year. It is frustrating to hear how some of the companies are bypassing and jumping ahead on the line. I thought I get some opinion; I am curious why this isn't being bunged. Although using a pre-approved labor is a legal thing, how much of sagacity does it really have? Within my little 10-12 friend circle I have had atleast FOUR people who got their GC within 8 months through this same company - KFORCE, Rapidigm Inc., utilizing pre-approved labor. It seems this company lures people with a condition that they will process their GC within couple of months, isn't this using the legal system at their business advantage.
What can we do to stop this, it is frustrating to me as I am waiting for close to four years with my GC process and been in the US for 7 years. At the same time, I see people who have been in the US for 2 years has their GC. To me this legal system does not make any sense and is a clear proof of injustice. I am thinking of talking to a legal attorney to see if this makes a justifiable case and if possible file a lawsuit for scrutiny against this company or any company that uses this facility for their benefit. May be I am overreacting and this is the reason I am posting it here to get an opinion, what do you guys think ?
I completely agree that Substitute labor is being used is the wrong sense. My husband is now in his 7th year of H1B and I am still on H4.
At the same time our friend who came in 2005 to USA through an Indian company joined Rapidigm in 2005, received a 1999 priority date Labor and received his Green card (& for his wife too) in 8 months time.
This iextremely unfair means of acquiring GC and should be blocked legally.Meanwhile Rapidigm has been acquired by Fujitsu .My take on this is that if 40,000 visa numbers remain for July, August and September, then USCIS by itself cannot use 40,000 visa numbers in one month alone (i.e. in july), because the DOS just supplies them monthly quotas. So, if you take approx.
18,000 per month, you are looking at 18,000 for July and 18,000 for August. Then, USCIS have to use them. Which means USCIS has to approve 18,000 petitions in July.
As, I have heard that USCIS just started out sending finger print notices this month, because Priority Dates moved a lot in June 2007. Now, the fingerprints, will come in and forwarded to FBI for security clearance. That will take atleast a month. And, all petitions activated for clearance in June 2007 won't get adjudicated till August 31, 2007, because it takes atleast three months, for a case to approve and the visa number to be used. (Remember Visa numbers are allocated on visas used and not how amny people applied). Please share your thoughts. Thats my 2 pennies.
Ombudsman report mentioned that 40K GCs would be wasted at the end 2007. This means that there should be more then 40K GCs at the beggining of June.
The applications submitted starting this month will take some time (whatever that is) for processing. GC # is assigned after 485 processing is complete.
USCIS had approved 485s before June. They have started getting GCs and are decrementing the 40K+ count. That is, applications being submitted now are not decrementing the 40K+ count.
I don't think there is a monthly GC quota. My husband is a GC holder. For some family reasons we would like to stay in INDIA for couple of years(or maximum time we can). I know we have to apply for a reentry permit. Is it a tough one to get and how early should we apply for it.
Thanks in advance
From Murthy.com Article:
In order for one to be considered as properly maintaining LPR status, a green card holder must be maintaining a permanent residence in the United States. If one is outside the U.S. for a period greater than either six months or 180 days, the immigration inspector may start questioning whether the permanent residence has been abandoned. Being outside the U.S. for such periods of time can also be a problem when applying for U.S. citizenship.
MurthyDotCom
If such an individual just makes an annual or biannual visit/s to the U.S., it may appear over time that s/he is spending more time abroad than in the U.S., and actually is living and working abroad. Then the individual is at risk of losing LPR status. If one plans on an extended stay outside the United States, it is possible to apply for a reentry permit before leaving the U.S., valid for a maximum period of two years. Such a permit would greatly facilitate reentry to the United States.

OK breddy I searched in youtube. I see chandu is from vijayawada. Now I know why he is talking crap on YS Rajashekar Reddy.
Dude Chandu, you are in 21st century. Forget about all these castism and all. Live peacefully and get your GC. This castism and all doesn't do any good. Chandrababu and Balakrishan will nto give any GC to you. Save your ass, CASTISM will not help any one. I used to think your senior member and good person. I seriously think your an IDIOT unless you stop this castism. STOP this caste based discussions. I know you are not directly talking but I can join the links.
(BTW, I don't believe in castism, I don't have any caste)

God knows what kind of idiots are given this kind of responsibility as Admin....
U r insane. U r assuming stuff and spewing venom. U like googling people's ids ehhh and that is ur passtime.
And for your kind information - I am not an admin, nor do I have any previliges. I can always write what I want, if IV thinks that I must not write something, they let me know. I do not have to come on multiple IDs like some of you do.
For those who are angry with me - send me an email or post me a private message as to why you are all so angry with me.You have made a good point. When you think about it, the lawyers are the only winners in the immigration mess.
I just heard from attorney there are lot of debate going on in AILA and they are trying to stop this memo from being implemented...they are the one going to lose more business then the body shops....If you join Microsoft , you might get less salary but they pay your insurance 100%. Is microsoft selling insurance to you?? its just a benefit/perk being an employee of microsoft.
same thing here too... pre-approved labor is just a perk/benefit offered by employer to hire you with less salary. so if you think you sacrificed your salary to get to cut the line for getting GC then you are thinking right.if not please stop thinking like socialist.
It all about money and business brother.I got mine approved 2 months back from countrywide with out any issues.and I got good interest rate too.
Has anybody really tried to get a mortgage recently? I have been denied by 8 lenders so far simply because I don't have a green card. Most lenders have tightened their underwriting guidelines. They will give mortgages only to U.S.Citizens or somebody who is a permanent resident aka having a green card. There are very very few lenders who will give mortgages to somebody on a visa and the rates may not be very favorable
